MI In Supervision (up to 20 participants) Dates: 10/26/22 (Part 1); 10/27/22 (Part 2); 11/2/22 (Part 3); 11/3/22 (Part 4)
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a method of guided communication that allows a practitioner to engage with a person’s strengths and help them to articulate and act upon their own reasons for making a positive change. This twelve-hour event presumes participants’ prior familiarity with the spirit, skills, and strategies of MI, and assists them to adapt those elements to supervisory engagement, enabling participants to 1) facilitate employees’ self-assessment and motivation to grow professionally, 2) improve their own awareness of the impact of the processes of MI on supervision, and 3) increase their own competence and confidence in delivering empathic and impactful conversational interventions. Participants will need to have completed both Basic and Intermediate MI trainings prior to attending MI in Supervision.
The MI in Supervision workshop is twelve hours in length, and is delivered via the Zoom platform over four days. Each session is three hours and fifteen minutes in length to allow for a break, and will run from 1pm to 4:15pm Eastern Standard Time (EST). Jope Consulting Services is an approved continuing education provider for the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), and the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) and this course is eligible for 12 continuing education credits from these organizations. An application has been made to the Massachusetts Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (MBSACC) to provide continuing education credit for this training. Participants must attend all four sessions in their entirety and complete a course evaluation to receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credit, if applicable.
