Basic Motivational Interviewing (up to 25 participants) Dates: Part 1 06/12/24 12:45pm - 4:00pm ET; Part 2 06/13/24 12:45pm - 4:00pm ET
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, evidence-based, goal-oriented method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence with the individual. This active, skill-building workshop provides participants with knowledge of the spirit and micro skills of the model and provides opportunities to practice the approach. Participants will complete the workshop with a good understanding of MI, and are encouraged to take the Intermediate and Advanced MI workshops to develop proficiency in this method. This workshop will be dynamic and interactive, and participants should expect to engage with video enabled and be ready to practice the skills discussed.
The Basic Motivational Interviewing workshop is six hours in length, and is delivered via the Zoom platform over two days. Each session is three hours and fifteen minutes in length to allow for a break, and will run from 12:45pm to 4:00pm Eastern Time (ET). This course is eligible for 6 continuing education credits for the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), the Massachusetts Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (MBSACC), and the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Community Health Workers.
Participants must attend both sessions in their entirety and complete a course evaluation to receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credit, if applicable.
