This is a 2 days 14-hour workshop that will provide an introduction to the clinical method as well as its theoretical and research base. The training is primarily focused on the discussion and application of the “Spirit and Processes” of MI. The Spirit can be described as the cornerstone for MI practice and, when embraced, will influence the relationship and approach participants to have with their clients.
We explore MI through an experiential series of discussions and exercises that provide participants opportunities to build skills in areas such as O.A.R.S.; recognizing client language that promotes change and other aspects of MI practice.
This training session will focus on clinical interviewing skills. Topics will include: unique listening and interviewing skills, how to identify and explore client ambivalence, how to respond to resistance, and how to identify and respond to client change-talk. Participants will also develop practice and learning strategies to further develop Motivational Interviewing skills. This is part of a WIOA-certified program.
