Description:
This workshop is designed for individuals who have completed introductory MI training and who have practiced MI in an applied setting. Participants will be guided through a series of exercises progressing from an intermediate- to advanced-level of clinical skill. This workshop will include live demonstration, video demonstration, “real plays” or practice in small group exercises.
Training Objectives:
- Identify change talk.
- Utilize 3 MI principles or interviewing skills to elicit and strengthen change talk.
- Observe and discuss videotaped demonstrations of MI
- Practice giving feedback to clinicians with an MI style
- Develop a plan for how to integrate MI into clinical practice
Target Audience:
Helping professionals or paraprofessionals who counsel clients or patients in making change (i.e., Mental Health and Addictions Counselors, Psychologists, Social Workers, Physicians, Nurses, Managers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Research Study Personnel, Probation/Corrections Officers and Counselors, Peer Recovery Support, Health/Life Coaches, Resident Assistants, Educators, Behavioral Specialists, Drug Court Providers, Pastoral Counselors, etc.).
