Advanced Motivational Interviewing (up to 15 participants) Dates: Part 1 03/13/24 1:00pm - 4:15pm ET; Part 2 03/14/24 1:00pm - 4:15pm ET
Motivational interviewing (MI) is a client-centered, evidence-based, goal-oriented method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence with the individual. This active, skill-building workshop provides participants with an understanding of the benchmarks for competent MI practice, as well as opportunities to build skills toward those benchmarks in practice conversations. Participants will also learn to integrate Brief Action Planning into their use of MI, and are encouraged to consider ongoing training and coached practice to continue to develop their skills. Participants should participate in Basic and Intermediate Motivational Interviewing courses before taking this course, as the level and pace of the course will assume a thorough knowledge of MI.
The Advanced Motivational Interviewing workshop is six hours in length, and is delivered via the Zoom platform over two days. Each session is three hours and fifteen minutes in length to allow for a break, and will run from 1:00pm to 4:15pm Eastern Time (ET). This course is eligible for 6 continuing education credits for the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), the Massachusetts Board of Substance Abuse Counselor Certification (MBSACC), and the Massachusetts Board of Certification of Community Health Workers.
Participants must attend both sessions in their entirety and complete a course evaluation to receive a certificate of completion and continuing education credit, if applicable.
