Christopher Wirt LCSW-C is the Branch Director of Bethany Christian Services in Maryland and Virginia and also teaches MI as a graduate course at the University of Buffalo School of Social Work. In addition, Chris has 28 years of experience working in the child welfare system including 16 years of direct practice and 12 years of teaching and training.
Chris has been a member of the MINT since 2018 and has offered MI training to a wide variety of professionals, focusing primarily on using MI in a Child Welfare setting.
Chris offers multiple options for training including a combination of didactic training with interactive learning experiences as well as training using "live supervision" where learners receive coaching during practice interviews, he has worked with Standardized Clients to allow students the opportunity to learn, practice and be tested on their clinical skills in a simulated setting. He has developed scenarios, trained standardized clients, facilitated teaching and testing, participated in research using standardized clients and has presented at national conferences related to this work.
He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 1995, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland in 2003.
