I am a member of the Board of Directors of SMART Recovery USA, a nonprofit organization that offers (in person and virtual) group based peer support meetings for individuals with substance use disorders. SMART Recovery meetings are steeped in the spirit, core skills and processes of Motivational Interviewing, and are expressly supportive of medication-assisted treatment, harm reduction and professional therapy.
I have facilitated SMART Recovery meetings since 2016, having been trained in MI by William Miller, Stephen Rollnick, Terri Moyers, Chris Wagner, Karen Ingersoll, Ali Hall, Molly Magill and Bob Jope (among others).
Having become a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers in 2024, I offer training in MI throughout the year, and can be reached via email to arrange training in MI to the staffs of treatment providers; local, state and Federal agency staff members; peer recovery specialists; and at the college or university level.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and my law degree from Georgetown University.
My trainer statement is included in the About Me section of this site.
