I've been a member of MINT since 1998 when I had the good fortune to attend the Newport, Rhode Island TNT with Bill and Steve as trainers. While I had been training people in my home state of Virginia since 1993, becoming a member of our wonderful community of trainers has improved my capacity as a trainer exponentially. I served on the Board of Directors from 2015-2019, holding positions of Secretary, Treasurer (2 years) and Vice Chair.
I really enjoy supporting people as they learn MI. My passion is to help others learn evidence-based practices and best practices that are most likely to help their clients and patients.
I am based in academic medicine, but enjoy working with many different kinds of agencies and individuals.
I provide a full range of MI learning opportunities, from short introductory presentations to full length, multiple day training events with extensive practice followed by coaching and consultation. Additionally, I enjoy training those already comfortable in MI to learn how to do MI groups, or to add MI to other clinical skills. I commonly train those in medical/health, addictions, mental health, and criminal justice settings who work with adolescents or adults.
