More About Me

About Me

Greetings! I live in Seattle, WA and have worked in the health/behavioral health/homelessness/housing arena for the past 35+ years. I am the Senior Trainer with C4 Innovations (located in Needham, MA). C4 provides training, technical assistance, and consultation to improve the lives of marginalized people and communities. I develop curricula and provide onsite and online training nationally on topics including motivational interviewing, trauma-informed/healing-centered care, trauma-informed supervision, outreach, tenancy support ,and building resiliency and renewal for care providers. I have an MSW from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA and an undergraduate degree from Goshen College, IN.  I find joy in hiking, reading, music, being in nature, family and friends, travel, soccer, scrabble, tasty brewed beverages, and embracing that which is life-giving.

Trainer Statement

In the early 1980s I "stumbled" into working as a social worker with people experiencing homelessness and living with co-occurring health and behavioral health challenges. I subsequently came to see this work as my calling. In becoming acquainted with motivational interviewing in the early 1990s, I found that it resonated deeply with my core values and who I wanted to be in the world. Over the years, I believe MI has transformed me as person and practitioner, allowing me to make a positive difference in the lives of many I've been able to accompany. In 2000, I stepped away from direct services and stepped into developing curricula and providing training in MI and other topics around the U.S. and abroad. I facilitate both onsite and online training in MI as well as provide coaching and consultation to help organizations implement and sustain the practice of MI. I find it a privilege to help equip others in the art and skill of MI, and am grateful to Bill and Steve, the MINT community, and others who continue to teach me how to help others learn.
