My goal as a MINTie is to empower others to develop and expand their communication and cultural competencies and to empower others to believe in their ability to help facilitate change in those they serve. I believe that we are a catalyst for the change we want to see in the world and that what we do and say matters; that it is our responsibility to model the SPIRIT of MI in all we do. My 35 years of experience working in the law enforcement field has provided me with the ability to reach a vulnerable and marginalized population and work to build self-efficacy and autonomy in our clientele. Challenging them to believe in themselves and their ability to "do good".
I view the ability to introduce others to Motivational Interviewing as a privilege and a personal calling. It is my goal every day to wake up and be a better version of myself than I was the day before, to understand that what I do speaks volumes.
