Director of Seeds of Change Consulting, Sarah Solis LCSW, has 10 years experience training, coaching, and consulting in Motivational Interviewing. She is currently employed as a Clinical Case Manager at the Department of Veterans Affairs. Sarah has worked in corrections, community mental health outpatient and day treatment programs, medical social work, and community-based services for children and families and has experience utilizing Motivational Interviewing with all of these populations.
The majority of Sarah's MI training experience has been with agencies that work with underserved and marginalized populations. Cultural humility and responsiveness is an important element in her work and she participates in monthly cultural humility workgroups. Sarah trains beginner and intermediate Motivational Interviewing trainees and provides a training that focuses on the use of MI when helping clients safety plan for their interactions with oppressive systems.
Sarah is known as a dynamic trainer and training participants often remark that they feel a high level of engagement throughout Sarah's training. Sarah is able to titrate the length and content of her Motivational Interviewing trainings, assessing the needs particular to each agency. Sarah has trained in many different service provision environments, such as corrections, medical establishments, schools, foster youth agencies, and inpatient and outpatient mental health and AOD facilities. Sarah incorporates the use of Motivational Interviewing and social justice, helping training attendees utilize MI to discuss oppression with clients.
