Scott T. Walters, Ph.D., is Regents Professor of Health Behavior and Health Systems at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. As a researcher and educator, his work blends motivational interviewing research, training, and practice. His recent projects are testing ways to improve cancer risk screening; vocational success for veterans; communication skills in US Army operational units; and substance use interventions for adolescents, young adults, people with intellectual disabilities, and people who are homeless. He has conducted numerous trainings for criminal justice workers, counselors, and healthcare professionals, and served as a consultant to develop Internet and mobile interventions for a variety of health behaviors. In the past 20 years, he has conducted more than 250 trainings, ranging from brief overviews to extended coaching and feedback.
