Steve Carlson, Psy.D. is a Clinical Trainer with the MN Center for Mental and Chemical Health. He has been working in the mental health field for over thirty years in a variety of settings, mostly in Community Mental Health Centers. Topics for training have included: Enhanced Illness Management and Recovery for Co-occurring Disorders, Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, Stages of Change Model, Mindfulness and Mental Health, Treating Mental Illness versus Improving Mental Health, The History and Psychology of Long-Term Homelessness, and other mental health topics. As a Certified Trainer in Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) Steve provides training and consultation to various agencies around the State of Minnesota as well as nationally.
As a private consultant, Steve provides all forms of motivational interviewing training from two-hour workshops to full day trainings as well as practice circles.
