I am a long-term member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and a former member of the Audit and Finance Committee. My background is in education and social policy and I have held senior leadership positions in Limerick, Dublin and Mississippi. During this period I have presented before the OECD, shared a vision from the TED stage and been elected to local government. In 2019, I had a spoken-word piece performance at the Edinburgh Fringe, ‘Inferno, Kid’, which outlined the gritty reality faced by young people in areas of acute social marginalisation.
I have a Masters of Education from the University of Notre Dame and have delivered workshops to groups in both the community and private sectors. I am passionate about empowering young people and has been involved in pioneering research to equip young people with the core skills of Motivational Interviewing to assist their friends in the challenges they may face.
