Facilitator-led Online Introductory w/Intimate Partner Violence

We have adapted our usual two-day workshop for a virtual tele-conferencing format to provide participants with an opportunity to explore creative ways of integrating these approaches into an effective therapeutic intervention -- when to use, when not to use Motivational Interviewing. Motivational Interviewing is a client-centered, evidence-based, directive method for enhancing intrinsic motivation to change by exploring and resolving ambivalence.

Motivational Interviewing is an evidence-based communication style designed to help people identify their own readiness, willingness, and ability to make meaningful changes in their lives. We will talk about techniques to draw out people in order to explore their motivations, resolve ambivalence, and help them become empowered to make changes to meet their own goals.

This virtual but highly interactive introduction and skill-building workshop will provide a number of exercises to help distinguish the practice of Motivational Interviewing from other types of therapy or psychoeducation. Motivational interviewing can be added to other models to reduce attrition and increase the likelihood of participants’ success.
