More About Me

About Me

I am an experienced psychotherapist, a Motivational Interviewing (MI) trainer and behavioral health interventionist with over a decade of experience in the substance use field. I became a member of MINT in 2024, after years of training and providing clinical supervision in MI. I have trained students and professionals in MI techniques, and also feel dedicated to providing general clinical supervision to help others build the skills and confidence to guide clients toward meaningful progress.

Currently, my MI expertise is focused on research-based work relating to substance use and medication management interventions. I also maintain a private clinical practice, continuing to witness the transformative impact of MI on individuals’ lives.

My career journey has allowed me to dive into how MI can help in a variety of settings, specifically the medical community and with fellow therapists.  I enjoy the complexity of relationships and the power of connections to each other, ourselves and the natural world to guide us through difficult decisions towards our values.

When I'm not training clinicians or seeing clients, I can often be found outside, enjoying time with my kids, perhaps working through their ambivalence over what trail to hike or what snack to pack.

Trainer Statement

I became a Motivational Interviewing (MI) trainer to deepen the work of empowering others through authentic, humanistic connection. My approach to MI is rooted in the belief that we are all fellow travelers, walking alongside those we serve without judgment or agenda. I see MI as a way to amplify the voices of individuals who have been overlooked, dismissed, or infantilized—particularly those impacted by mental health challenges and substance use. In my work with underserved populations, I’ve witnessed the profound transformation that occurs when people feel truly heard, valued, and supported to step into their power.

In my trainings, I aim to create a dynamic, mindful, and creative learning environment. I encourage participants to reflect on their motivations and reactions, staying attuned to the balance between their needs and the best interests of those they serve. I love hearing how MI skills have empowered others and seeing the ripple effects of this work in communities.

Drawing on my background in mindfulness, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world, I strive to weave metaphor, reflection, and imagination into my trainings. I believe MI isn’t just a tool—it’s an opportunity to cultivate genuine connection, foster equity, and inspire lasting change. Whether you’re new to MI or looking to deepen your practice, I invite you to join me in this journey of learning, growth, and transformation."
