I am a licensed psychologist and a professor of psychology. Since 2014, I have provided training and consultation for state and local government agencies as well as private non-profit agencies serving a variety of target populations.
Motivational Interviewing has been transformative for me in my roles as a clinician, educator, and trainer. I began my journey as a practitioner of MI in 2004 and began to facilitate MI training in 2011. As I experienced and observed its positive results, I became increasingly passionate about developing my skills as a practitioner and trainer of MI in order to share this effective intervention with others. I’ve been privileged to receive mentoring and coaching from wonderful expert MINT trainers over the years. In 2015, I completed the Texas Motivational Interviewing Training Academy (MITA) at Sam Houston State University, giving me confidence to apply to the Training of New Trainers (TNT) with the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT). I was accepted as a member of MINT after completing the TNT in 2016.
Knowing that the practice of MI is a continuous journey of discovery, I remain an eager learner and value the ongoing development provided by the MINT community. I also look forward to learning from each new group of participants in my own training workshops. With each new cohort, I have the honor of sharing something of value while I learn from the unique experiences of committed helping professionals who are making a difference.
