I am a clinical social worker based in Albuquerque, NM, USA. Currently I work as a clinical therapist at a substance use treatment center providing brief harm reduction/relapse prevention interventions to clients attending walk-in counseling services and longer-term episodes of evidence based therapies to individuals assigned to my caseload. I have a particular interest in co-occuring substance use disorders and serious mental illness and serving those involved in the criminal justice system.
I have been studying and practicing motivational interviewing for the past 5 years. I am thrilled to share what I have learned with others through various training/teaching/coaching opportunities! I love MI because in addition to specific skills that can be learned, MI is a way of being (partnering) and communicating with others that helps people to connect in a compassionate, empathic manner that empowers them.
