Steve Carr, LCSW, LPC, LCDC, MAC, is a Trainer/Course Manager for a US Army Behavioral Health training program at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Steve Joined the Army in 1988 and went on to serve a 20 year military career, primarily working in the behavioral health field. Following his military retirement in 2008, Steve worked as an Associate Psychologist at a State Supported Living Center, Program Therapist on an in-patient Dual Diagnosis unit, Hospice Social Worker, an Addiction Therapist at the VA, and a psychotherapist in private practice.
Steve received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from University of Maryland, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University, and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from University of North Dakota. Steve currently lives in San Antonio, TX.
Steve was introduced to Motivational Interviewing (MI) in 2004 while working at a Residential Treatment Program in Germany. The disenfranchised populations that Steve had worked with over the years benefited from the strength based MI approach.
